Arizona campaign headquarters Kari Lake receives “suspicious items” in the mail, prompting a response from the Phoenix Police Department

Phoenix law enforcement responded to the campaign headquarters of Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake after “suspicious items were found in the mail.”

A spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that officers were “responding to a find in an office building near 40th Street and Camelback Road.”

“When officers arrived, they were told there were suspicious items in the mail,” Sgt. Phil Krynsky wrote via email. “Additional resources responded to collect the items and secure the area. There were no reports of injuries and the investigation remains active.”

A white powdery substance was reportedly found in packages sent to Lake’s office.

It was initially said that FBI agents and Phoenix police officers responded to the scene in hazmat suits.

This comes days before Lake, a former local news anchor turned staunch critic of the press, is set to face Democratic opponent Katie Hobbs in the Arizona gubernatorial race on Tuesday. Last week, police responded to a reported break-in at Hobbs’ campaign headquarters in Phoenix. Hobbs initially blamed Lake’s rhetoric for this.
