VOLLEYBALL – The Wyoming State Volleyball Championships concluded Saturday night, with Sheridan Media’s Kevin Koile graduating.

STATE SWIMMING AND DIVING – The girls’ swim season concluded in Laramie over the weekend with the state championships, the Lady Broncs taking 6th place.

Olivia Dannhaus placed 3rd in the 200 yards IM and 2nd in the 100 yards breaststroke.

Maggie Turpin and Emily Walton placed 3rd and 4th respectively in diving.

The 200-yard medley relay team placed 4th (Ivanna Skydan, Olivia Dannhaus, Jaylynn Morgan, Avery McMullen.

RAMS FOOTBALL — The Big Horn Rams get another shot at the title after holding off Lyman Friday in the semifinals. The defense came through with three critical stops in the 4th quarter as the Rams would beat the two-time defending champion by 7. 0

The Rams got on the board late in the first quarter when Drew Heermann ran from 3 yards.

The score would remain 7-0 in the 4th quarter and Lyman knocked on the door but the Rams kept them out, first Caleb Gibson attacking an Eagle receiver at the 5 on 4th down to force a turnover on downs.

Two games later, the Rams fumbled on their own 7, but the defense held and stopped quarterback Carter Bradshaw in 4th place at the one-yard line

Late in the game, Cooper Garber grabbed an interception to seal the win. After that, head coach Kirk McLaughlin gave a lot of credit to the Rams bend but don’t break defense, which went up against an Eagle team that had the second-best rushing attack in 2A.

The Rams are getting a rematch against Lovell in the 2A state championship game Friday, we’re going to play the game 14-10. KWYO live for you and 106.9 FM is scheduled to kick off at noon.

BRONC FOOTBALL – It was an epic battle and historic night as the Broncs defeated Cheyenne Central 63-42 to return to the 4-A State Title Game.

Bronc senior Colson Coon set a new 11-man Wyoming football record with 517 yards for seven touchdowns as the Broncs edged Central all night.

Coon says they didn’t expect a shootout with Central but it turned out to be a wild game.

And as he discussed his big night, he credited the offensive line for making it possible.

And now they are preparing for another trip to War Memorial Stadium.

Head Coach Jeff Mowry says it’s great to get another shot at a state title, it will be the Broncs’ 10th trip to Laramie in 2009.

They face Cheyenne East for the state title on Saturday and we’ll have it live on KWYO from 2-10pm and 106.9 FM. The First Federal Bank and Trust pregame show begins at 3:30 p.m.

COWBOY FOOTBALL — The Wyoming Cowboys play Saturday night in Colorado State, kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

BRONCO FOOTBALL — The Denver Broncos play an away game with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

JUNIOR HOCKEY — The Sheridan Junior Hawks were defeated by Gillette 13-4 and 11-2, the Hawks play at home against Great Falls, Montana on Friday and Saturday.
