NILES – A Niles company recognized for its commitment to integrity and ethical practices.

The Better Business Bureau of Western Michigan named Custom Computer Company, 303 N. 3rd St., Niles, Monday, November 14 at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids as the winner of the 2022 BBB Torch Award for Ethics.

“It feels great when your hard work is recognized,” said CCC owner Michael Reed. “We are very proud of our team and extremely grateful for the support of our amazing community. We have achieved so much since 2016, we look forward to the rest of this decade and beyond.”

The Torch Award for Ethics is an annual BBB awards program that publicly recognizes organizations that employ practices that increase their commitment to ethical conduct.

An independent panel of judges reviewed the submitted applications for each award, categorized by number of employees. CCC won the category 1 to 10 employees.

A full-service IT company, CCC has provided system repairs, new network installs, network repairs, camera work and more to hundreds of businesses and clients since opening in 2017.

“We’re a local IT company serving the Niles 60-mile radius,” Reed said in an interview with BBB. “We started as a pure corporate IT company and opened it up for private repairs. We really needed something in this area for housing… I feel like every IT company that opens up these days has their doors locked, you can’t go in, you know, and we really want to open it up and then let people come and and and , and use our services.”

According to Reed, what sets CCC apart from other IT companies is its independence.

“It’s getting weird now, it’s all pulled together, it’s all behind A desk,” he said. “Everyone wants to be a managed service provider, where they sign long contracts and offer services when they can. Unless you request it, we actually refuse contracts. We don’t want a contract. We have over 150 commercial customers. We’ve taken on board a ton and offloaded maybe two in the last seven years. It’s almost like a break-fixed model. We’re here when you need us and we won’t bill you if you don’t.

“We build on honesty and friendship. Getting recognition is huge and super exciting.”
