In local sport on Monday, the Shepherd 7th Grade Lady Rams defeated Minooka 21-15 in overtime. Kennedy Kane had 15 points Chloe Thrush had 4 points. The 8th grade Lady Rams suffered their first loss of the season to Minooka 34-20. Ashlynn Ganiere had 14 points. In another elementary school basketball action, the Marquette Academy 8th grade team defeated Seneca 39-17. They were led by Morgan Collins, who scored 17 points. Anna Hjerpe added 10 of their own. In high school girls basketball at the Falcon Irish Tournament Hall defeated Seneca 31-25, Kennedy Hartwig advanced Seneca by 14 points. The Serena Lady Huskers fell to Herscher 46-44 in overtime. Makayla McNally led the Huskers with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Gwynth O’connell also added 12 points. At the IMSA tournament, Earlville defeated Indian Creek 55-38. At the Somonauk Tournament, the Lasalle-Peru Cavaliers fell to Newark 42-40. In the Falcon Irish tournament, the Marquette Lady Cru defeated Dwight 52-36. The Crusaders were pushed ahead by Avery Durdan, who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Lily Craig also added 16 points and six rebounds. Princeton defeated Streator 57-33 in the Princeton tournament. Erie-Prophetstown also defeated St. Bede 40-22 at the Princeton Tournament. Last night’s Prairie Central tournament saw Ottawa defeat hosts Prairie Central 61-31. Marlie Orlandi led the Pirates with 18 points and five steals, Grace Carroll added 11 points and seven assists for the Lady Pirates.

(New Orleans, LA) — The Chicago Bulls are attempting to end a two-game losing streak when they visit the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center tonight. The Bulls are 6-and-8 after losing to the Nuggets 126-103 on Sunday. Chicago is ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls have played the Pelicans once this season, a 115-111 loss last Wednesday. Today’s game starts at 7:00 p.m.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Blackhawks look to return to the Victory Column against the St. Louis Blues at the United Center tonight. The Blackhawks lost 3-0 to the Hurricanes on Monday, falling to 6-6 and 3. Chicago has yet to play St. Louis in a regular season game this season, but the team lost to the Blues twice this preseason. Today’s competition starts at 18:30.

(Washington, DC) — The Northwestern Wildcats remain unbeaten after a 75-63 win over Georgetown at Capital One Arena. Northwestern was four points behind at halftime, but the Wildcats outplayed the Hoyas 42-28 in the second half. Northwestern improved to 3-and-0. The Wildcats host Purdue-Fort Wayne on Friday.

(South Bend, IN) – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish claim their third straight win when they host Southern Indiana at the Gotham Classic at the Joyce Center tonight. The Irish defeated Youngstown State 88-81 on Sunday, improving to 2-0 for the season. Tonight’s game begins at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

(Undated) – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish climb the ladder in the latest College Football Playoffs standings. Notre Dame rose two spots to No. 18 after beating Navy 35-32 last Saturday. The Fighting Irish take on Boston College this weekend. Meanwhile, the Illinois Fighting Illini fell out of the top 25 after their 31-24 loss to Purdue.

>>Bears place RB Herbert on injured reserve

(Lake Forest, IL) – The running game “The Bears” is going to have a hit in the next few weeks. Second-row running back Khalil Herbert was placed on injured reserve yesterday. Herbert suffered a hip injury in Chicago’s loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday and will miss the Bears’ next four games. Herbert has 643 rushing yards and five total touchdowns this season.

(Chicago, IL) – The Chicago Cubs are active to start the offseason. The team traded for Tampa Bay Rays utility player Miles Mastrobuoni yesterday. The Cubs sent minor league pitcher Alfredo Zarraga to St. Petersburg to complete the trade. In other team news, catcher Willson Contreras turned down his qualifying offer from the Cubs and made him a free agent. Also yesterday, Chicago added prospects Kevin Alcantara, Ben Brown, Brennen Davis and Ryan Jensen to its 40-man roster.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago White Sox are protecting two prospects from the Rule 5 draft by adding them to their 40-man roster. The team added infielders Jose Rodriguez and Bryan Ramos to its 40-man squad yesterday. Ramos is number five in the White Sox organization, and Rodriguez checks in at number seven. The Rule 5 draft will take place on December 7th.
