LOS ANGELES, November 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Unforgettable gala, also known as UNFO, the nation’s largest and longest-running awards ceremony for Asia Pacific islanders, celebrates 20 years of honoring API excellence and representation in entertainment, arts and culture. Character Media announces the actor today Eugene Cordero (Marvel’s “Loki”) as this year’s host, for the first time a Filipino-American has hosted the API community’s premier entertainment gala. Also featured at UNFO are the actor’s award winners in the film Ke Huy Quan and Breakout in Film award winners Stephanie Hasu from “Everything everywhere at once.” receiving the Breakout in TV Award Minha Kim from “Patschinko”, The successful series is also honored with this year’s Vanguard Award. Bretmann Rock receives the Digital Influencer Award and Dome Shi and Julia Cho receives the Writer Award for “To redden.” Daniel Dae Kim and Lisa LinCo-Chair of the Awards Selection Committee, will deliver this year’s keynote address.
With the theme “Illuminate” for 2022, UNFO recognizes API luminaries from the past few decades, celebrates this year’s honorees and calls on the community to illuminate the path forward for the next generation of API talent. The 20th Annual Unforgettable Gala, presented by Lexus and produced by Character Media, is held on Saturday, 12/17at the Beverly Hilton.
“As the first Filipino to host the Unforgettable Gala, I am honored to represent the diversity of the Asian American community,” said Cordero. The author, comedian and actor is known for his numerous roles in film and television, most recently in the leading role Jo Koys special feature”Easter Sunday‘ and the Marvel TV series ‘Loki’. Cordero adds, “APIs have made great strides in entertainment in recent years, but we’re still falling short in portraying on-camera leads and off-camera executives.”
